Solar Halo In The Sky


A solar halo appears in the sky above Huangshan in eastern China. Solar haloes can be seen when the sun is 58 degrees or more above the horizon and its light passes through high-altitude cirrus clouds.

40 Meters Tall Roller Coaster From Hell


This is a new wooden roller coaster at Europa Park, Rust, Baden Baden, Germany. The ride is 40 metres high, with a a top speed of more than 100 km/hr, and a vertical acceleration which can reach a strength of 3.5G.

A Legoman Surfing Underwater


A Lego minifig surfs a wave of blue ink underwater. Illustrator Alberto Seveso from Portoscuso, Italy, perches his submerged minifig on a wooden stick and then pours ink into the water. "One shot takes a lot of time," he says. "A click takes just a short moment, but what needs a lot of time is preparing the set."

Headbutting The Lion!


It looked like an easy meal had been served for this lioness - an exhausted and bedraggled young wildebeest that had crawled from the Mara river. But the plucky wildebeest landed a well-aimed head butt at the predator, giving it enough time to escape this particular threat by running off across the plains.
