The Rise of Burj Khalifa

Photobucket

The Rise: The tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, rises above a blanket of fog over Dubai. Though people may not associate fog with the desert kingdom, it is a seasonal phenomenon. Photographer Catalin Marin said: "Every year around this time, Dubai experiences heavy fog due to the still-high humidity and the falling temperatures. With all the new high-rise buildings including Burj Khalifa, this provides a great photographic opportunity." Standing at more than 828 metres (2,716.5 feet) and more than 160 storeys, the building is also the tallest free-standing structure in the world.
